Suavecito Pomade Original Hold Review

suavecito-original

Its Smell And Look.

Something you may notice after taking the lid off is that this pomade has an old school smell to it. Quite similar to the grooming stuff made particularly for men during the 90’s era.

The color of the product is similar to that of root beer and is so transparent that you can see the very bottom of the jar when you take a look inside.

Its Texture.

The pomade has a similar feel to thick hair gel, but not as thick as other pomades on the market nowadays.

It spreads quite nicely on your hands and through your hair, has very nice texture and is not sticky at all.

How To Apply It.

As opposed to some of the other heavy-duty pomades available on the market, applying Suavecito to the hair is very smooth.

It doesn’t cause that “pulling” effect that others do, has a good work time, and is not so heavy that it makes your style go limp.

Its Shine.

On the label, the intended shine level has not been mentioned, however it may be given a solid “medium shine” rating.

It is neither matte nor is it oil slick. It is right there in between those two.

Its Hold.

This is completely contingent upon how much you intend on using.

If you were to use an almond-sized amount, Suavecito can do an excellent job of holding your hair in place.

If you were to use a heavy application, it would give you a medium/strong hold.

However, if you apply just a pea-sized amount only, you may get a more natural appearance with a hold leaning more towards the light/medium range of hold.

How ‘Re-Stylable’ Is It?

The Suavecito Pomade Original Hold does “set” just like a hair gel, so restyling your hair with your fingers does not effectively work similar to how it does with wax, clay, or grease pomades.

Due to the fact that it’s water-based, you have the ability to “reactivate” it by using water and then re-style your hair at any time throughout the day.

Its Longevity.

This pomade can last for as long as you need it to.

When using a quite heavy application, it has the ability to hold for 24 straight hours even after sleeping.

Washing It Out.

It is super easy to rinse out the pomade from your hair once you’re ready to. All you need to do is put your head under the water, rub through it with your fingers, and it will be out of your hair in no time.

You may even rinse it out in the sink.

Disadvantages of Suavecito pomade

An issue some may have with this product is that it could be classified more as a gel rather than a pomade.

Some may believe that pomades give a flexible hold whereas gels harden, as they get dry. Due to the fact that this pomade dries similar to a gel, it doesn’t do well with disturbances.

Simply being in a windy situation can damage your hairstyle and there isn’t anything you can do about until you get over to a sink.

Ways you can use Suavecito

High hold

If you desire a high hold style for your hair, you can apply an almond-sized amount of Suavecito to your hair after it has been blow-dried and then rubbing it through your hair in multiple directions to evenly distribute it.

Then all that is left is to comb it in the way you want. As simple as that.

Light hold

If you desire a light hold, you only need to apply a little bit to your hair once it has dried and style it with your fingers.

After it dries, you may rub your hands through your hair to loosen the hold a just a bit.

You’ll be left with a clean and smooth look.
